I was so honored to be recognized for my work in local history and community at the 2018 Rhode Island Council for the Humanities Celebration. Our state humanities council seeds culture with large and small grants, providing important resources to people and organizations who are engaged in community-focused humanities work--literature, history, art, the social sciences. To be honored with the Public Scholar award by this important state organization was a true life achievement. They also kindly posted my short speech on their blog, which you can read here.
